Joined Dec 2, Messages If your going to do a fresh install, do it as basic as possible. Any cards that are on the motherboard remove, remove any extra ROM devices, remove any other HD's that will not have the OS installed on, and use a single stick of RAM or a gig, etc.

If your motherboard does not have onboard video, use a video card if your SLI' ing, don't use both for the install. See if that helps, and if it does, you can then place all your PC components back into your PC once Vista is up and running properly. These are the only devices i have on my system.

Intel Pentium D 3. Thank you. Joined Jun 5, Messages 1. I have been having the same problem. It does the "completing installation" part and brings up the mouse cursor, sits for a little bit, then reboots. At that point I get stuck in an endless cycle where I cannot boot into the OS. If I try a repair, sometimes I get into it, but nothing works properly. Anyone have any other suggestions other than SATA? Joined Jun 4, Messages 3. That seemed to help, since I actually was able to get an install though there were other issues such as it continuing on without completing the administrator setup , but wasn't a real solution since it still doesn't install consistantly and correctly.

I'm going to try and disable the sata controller, however, that might not be a real answer either since I shouldn't have to use an IDE drive to install Vista. I do think most of the install problems are harddrive related though, since sometimes the OS will install and other times it just hangs up, with no harddrive activity. I'm loading the sata motherboard drivers, and it's accepting them, but it just doesn't seem to matter much.
